VAINSTEIN ALEJANDRO 1917 – 2003
He was born in Odessa in July 1917. From an intimate and personal painting, Alejandro acquired a long training. His initial years with Esteban Lisa, until 1943. Then he decided to continue his apprenticeship in Emilio Pettoruti’s workshop, for another nine years, until 1952. From then until 1959 he became an assistant in Pettoruti’s workshop, from which he would take charge in the teacher’s absences. He finally starts his own workshop, first in a basement on Charcas Street and finally on the corner of Hipólito Yrigoyen and Combate de los Pozos.
He exhibited for the last time in 2001, at the age of 83, in the Frans Van Riel gallery. He passed away in November 2003.
